On Monday, October 30, Collinsville Middle School students delivered 1029 lbs — a half ton — of food to the Collinsville Food Pantry.
The delivery was the end-result of a two-week food drive at CMS. Miss Hendricks’/Mrs. Peak’s class organized and led the food drive for the entire school.
CMS students weighed, sorted and shelved items. During their 3 hour visit, they packaged 420 Tote-Me-Home bags and 50+ grooming packages.
Group chaperones said, from this experience, students learned about further service opportunities, real life needs in their community and the challenges faced by non-profit organizations.
