Collinsville High School Senior Jacob Sorge earned 2nd place in English at the WYSE state competition held at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on April 17, 2018.
“This is the highest award we’ve ever brought home from WYSE State. To put this in perspective, other local schools competed today and didn’t bring home any medals. In years past, we’ve brought home 5th places. We are so very proud of Jacob.” said WYSE Coach and CHS Science Department Chair Tom Withee.
WYSE – Worldwide Youth in Science & Engineering – is an International program headquartered at the University of Illinois. The WYSE mission is “Fostering excellence in mathematics and sciences among the youth of the United States and the world.”
After graduation, Jacob plans to attend the University of Illinois and study The Classics to someday become a Latin Instructor.
