The Collinsville High School math team placed second behind Carbondale at the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Regional Math Contest on February 24, 2018 at SIUE.
Several groups and individuals qualified to advance to state competition:
Junior class team: Jimmy Moore, Ricky Coca, Eliza Apperson, Emily Bone, Shannon Wobbe and James Russell placed first and will advance to state. Jimmy Moore (first) and Ricky Coca (second) lead the junior team.
Calculator Team: Kobe Collins, Jimmy Moore, Eliza Apperson, Hunter Juengel, and Tyler Boerner placed first and will advance to state.
Junior-Senior 8 Person Team: Kobe Collins, Kira Patrylak, Jimmy Moore, Trent Baima, Josh Vickery, James Russell, Shannon Wobbe and Chelsea Cagg placed second, but scored high enough to advance to state.
Freshman Tyler Boerner placed second individually on the Algebra 1 test and will advance to state.
Sophomore Evan Cappechi placed third individually on the Geometry test and will advance to state.
The ICTM State Math Contest will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
A Trivia Night Like No Other
To support their efforts, the CHS Math Team is holding a Trivia Night fundraiser on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at First United Presbyterian Church in Collinsville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the approximately 35 Collinsville High School Math Team mathletes to help pay for pizza at two competitions, team t-shirts, repair & purchase of calculators for use at competitions, and food/drinks at practices & the team’s end of the year celebration.
