March 2, 2022 – At the end of February, 20 Collinsville High School Latin Club members traveled to Chicago to compete and participate in the Illinois Junior Classical League (ILJCL) 2022 North Convention.
“This was our first in-person competition in two years, and our strong attendance was made possible by donations and a Society for Classical Studies (SCS) Pedagogy award to our Mary Lee Muniz Travel Scholarship Fund that has allowed students of all backgrounds to attend,” said Latin Teacher James Stark. (Muniz is a retired CHS Latin teacher.)
Stark reports CHS students made school history this year with an unprecedented number of academic, artistic and performance awards. “For the first time in CHS history, the group secured 3rd Place Overall for our students’ performance alongside schools that boast the most some of the competitive and rigorous Latin programs in the state of Illinois,” he said.
