Collinsville High School Latin Teacher James Stark reported a successful day for CHS students who attended the Illinois Junior Classical League South Convention at Pekin Community High School.
The team excelled in academic and artistic categories and remains undefeated champions in the Tug-of-War competition. CHS’s Hannah Herman was elected as IJCL South Treasurer for the upcoming school year.
Mr. Stark is continually impressed by the determination and dedication of his Latin students.
“Our school had the unique problem of having too many students who wanted to take an academic test, and as a result, I had to turn some away who may also have performed well. I’m working with the committee to change the rules here so that I can get more students in testing. Hannah Herman, for example, was so motivated to test that she actually competed against the Latin 3 students even though she is in Latin 2 – it was the only place where we had an open slot,” said Stark.
