October 27, 2021 – Collinsville High School Spanish teacher and World Language Department Chair Cara Kettler was recognized today for being named August 2021 Kahok Educator of the Month. She was surprised in her classroom – while dressed in a purple unicorn costume for Kahoks United Spirit Week. The award was presented by Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg and CHS Principal Daniel Toberman.
Principal Toberman wrote:
“I would like to nominate Cara Kettler. She is the chair of the World Language Department and Sponsor of the Spanish Club. Mrs. Kettler has always created a welcoming and inclusive environment in her classroom and never misses an opportunity to connect with her students or to help out in any way possible. I especially enjoyed her serving nachos at the recent homecoming week tailgate party. It was also reported to me that Mrs. Kettler did a fantastic job with remote learning when that was happening over the last two school years. Her students said that she made them feel as if they were in class, even when they were on the other end of a computer screen. Mrs. Kettler is a true asset to the Kahok community.”
Local Edward Jones Representative Jason Rehg sponsors the award each month during the school year to recognize outstanding educators in Collinsville CUSD 10. Mr. Rehg took the opportunity to celebrate Kettler for being a “unicorn” at CHS – a mythical magical creature.
