October is College Application Month. The Collinsville High School Counselors are ready to assist families with applications, research and financial aid questions– including the FAFSA.
– COLLEGE & CAREER THURSDAYS: Every Thursday, the counselors will be available in the library computer lab during all lunch and study hall periods to help with online applications and research. No appointment is necessary. Students should simply get a pass for the computer lab during lunch/study.
In addition, as part of the “College Changes Everything” program, a representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be at CHS on Thursdays. ISAC is committed to helping make college more accessible and affordable for Illinois families. ISAC has financial aid resources and tips for filling out the required FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). For more information on ISAC resources, visit https://www.isac.org/
– VOCATIONAL STUDENTS: On designated Fridays, the counselors will meet with students in the Collinsville Area Vocational Center to assist with the college/career training application process.
– FAIRMONT CITY LIBRARY: On Saturday, October 22, CHS Counselors will be at the Fairmont City Library from 2-4 pm to help students with applications, career questions, etc.
Outside of College Application Month, the CHS Counseling Department is always available for student and parent questions regarding post-high school education options, career planning, scholarships and financial aid.
