Kahok Boot Camp was sponsored by Kahoks United, an anti-bullying club at CHS, as a way to raise money for the Megan Meier Foundation.
The Megan Meier Foundation’s motto is to “To Support and Inspire Actions to End Bullying, Cyberbullying and Suicide” — which are also goals of Kahoks United.
Twenty-five CHS staff members, volunteered to participate in a boot camp run by the Marines. For a week at lunch, students donated money to vote for the adults they felt would get through boot camp. Students could enter a raffle for a chance to participate in the boot camp with a staff member.
At the event, students and staff competed in pull ups, a running/crawling drill, core workouts and leg exercises with the Marines.
“It was awesome to see students and staff – many did not know each other well – working together and taking a risk to try new tasks. Everyone participating and watching was cheering each other on,” said CHS Social Worker and Kahoks United Co-sponsor Kristin Trapp.
“It was a great example of what we all should do to try to combat bullying – work with others – even those we don’t know well – stand up and support everyone, and be brave if you see someone being mistreated.”
