August 3, 2023 – Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 welcomes Mr. Bryan Dunn to the Kahok Family as an assistant principal at Collinsville High School in the 2023-24 school year.
Mr. Dunn was born near Chicago and lived in northwestern Illinois before moving to Salem, Illinois, where he graduated from high school. He attended SIU-Carbondale to earn a degree in radio/TV. After three years working as a sports anchor and reporter for a small ABC-TV station in Kirksville, Missouri, Dunn decided to pursue a teaching certificate and switch careers.
He taught in Arizona and Illinois before spending the last four years doing professional development work for school districts in Missouri. He earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, and completed education specialist certification from University of Missouri St. Louis.
“I’m excited to get to work with both students and teachers at CHS,” says Dunn, “I am a strong believer that all students can learn at high levels, and need to be given the voice and opportunity to demonstrate their learning in multiple ways. I also firmly believe that goals are not as important as systems.”
Mr. Dunn and his wife live in Troy, Illinois, with their twelve-year-old son, Elliott, and eight-year-old twins, Louis and Ruby. In his spare time, he helps coach his younger son in both baseball and football, and cheers for his other children in their respective sports. He stays active by working out, hiking, biking and doing yoga. He enjoys traveling and going to concerts.
Mr. Dunn is excited to be working in a school building again, and says, “Nothing is better than the feeling of seeing students engaged in their learning and excited about their classes.”
