May 5, 2020 – The Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 Board of Education voted to approve Brad Snow to serve as principal of Collinsville Middle School beginning in the 2020-21 school year.
Snow will replace Dr. Kimberly Jackson who has accepted a position in Nebraska.
Mr. Snow is currently principal of Webster Elementary School in Collinsville CUSD #10. Webster has been named an Exemplary School by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for the last two years. Exemplary Schools perform in the top 10% of all schools in the state.
Snow joined Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 as a 4th grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary for 3 years. He taught 6th grade at Dorris Intermediate School for 4 years before becoming principal of Webster Elementary School for the past 6 years.
“My path to principal at Collinsville Middle School has been a different path than many educators take,” says Snow. “I grew up on a dairy farm in Mulberry Grove Illinois. After graduating high school, I attended Kaskaskia College majoring in Agribusiness. I began working at Fedders North America in Effingham, IL in their press room and had an internship in their tool and die area.”
“In 1996, my wife and I moved to Greenville where I began employment with Carlisle Syntec Inc. as a general production operator. It was here that my passion for education began to grow. I worked my way up to team leader of a weekend crew. Along the way I saw too many young people from middle class families not realizing their full potential. Seeing the need for change, I decided to go into education and be a part of the change,” he says.
“I am excited to be principal at Collinsville Middle School for a variety of reasons. This is a crucial age where students are beginning to make decisions that will impact their adult lives. I can work with the families and the great staff that is already in place to continue meeting the needs of Unit 10 students. I feel honored, blessed, and Kahok Proud,” says Snow.
Mr. Snow holds a BS in Elementary Education, an MS in Instructional Technology, ED.S. in Education Administration and a Superintendent Certificate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
He lives in Troy with his wife Marla, currently a reading specialist in the Triad school district. His daughter Lainey, 20, has a degree in Accounting from SWIC and is currently attending SIUE majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. His son Hunter, 18, is graduating from Triad High School this year and will be attending SWIC majoring in Criminal Justice.
Mr. Snow has been a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, coached many youth sports teams, and is an active member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. His hobbies include woodworking and “anything outdoors.”
Collinsville CUSD 10 Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich said, “We want to wish Dr. Jackson the best in her new role as she moves to Nebraska. We are excited to announce Mr. Brad Snow as the principal at Collinsville Middle School beginning July 1, 2020. Mr. Snow focuses on constant improvement, working with his faculty and staff and providing a climate and culture that allows students and staff to thrive.”
