At a special meeting on Monday, April 30, 2018, the Collinsville Board of Education voted to approve an agreement with Collinsville Education Association (CEA) membership for a 2-year contract covering the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years.
Negotiations had been stalled for most of the current school year due to uncertainty regarding funding from the State of Illinois. Terms of the new current contract are retroactive to cover the 2017-2018 school year.
The contract includes a 2% step increase for certified staff, as well as .75% increase on their base salary. There is also a $1,500 early retirement incentive for those considering retiring this year (2018), next year (2019), or at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
The Board of Education and CEA reached a tentative agreement on April 17, 2018. CEA members approved the agreement on April 24, 2018.
Board President Gary Peccola said, “We are pleased we could work collaboratively with our teachers and come to an agreement. We appreciate their patience as we waited for the State to determine our funding allocation.”
“We are now able to finish this school year and look forward to the 2018-19 school year with certainty. Our district’s leadership and CEA are always on the same page about our students being the top priority,” said Superintendent Dr. Robert Green.
