The Collinsville High School April 2019 Faculty Member of the Month is STEM teacher Mrs. Cindy Bednara and May 2019 Faculty Member of the Month is art teacher Mrs. Emma Houshmand.
Mrs. Bednara’s nomination reads:
The April Faculty Member of the Month has been on double duty this year as she works at both CHS and the Middle School.
One of her nominators wrote, “Cindy has gone above and beyond being a dedicated teacher. She travels between CMS and CHS and works hard to build the STEM program for all students. She is constantly pushing her students to explore, learn, and take risks while learning. It seems like she is traveling every weekend with groups to competitions, engineering expos, and overnight field trips.”
Another wrote, “As a parent, I’m extremely happy my son has had Mrs. Bednara as a teacher for the last 3 years. She has helped him mature and grow. As her coworker, I’m inspired to do more for students and think outside the box.”
For all of these reasons we name Mrs. Cindy Bednara the April Faculty Member of the Month!
Mrs. Houshmand’s nomination reads:
The May Faculty Member of the Month is retiring at the end of this school year after 20 years here at CHS.
Her nominators wrote of her, “She takes TLC to a new level for both her students and her department. Students and faculty alike are greeted with a cup of herbal tea every day, all day in her room. She offers everyone a calm, soothing environment throughout the day. It’s a great place for students to channel their inner artist by de-cluttering their minds for an hour. Faculty members share time to unwind at lunch each day thanks to her TLC.
As department chair, she takes the job seriously – representing her entire department and keeping them apprised of any new information. We always know she has our backs. In addition, she co-sponsors the Art Club which has done many campus-wide projects and also the Knitting Club.”
For these reasons we name Mrs. Emma Houshmand the May Faculty Member of the Month and wish her well on her retirement!
