April 1, 2022 – Today Collinsville CUSD 10 Superintendent Dr. Mark B. Skertich sent the following weekly update to families:
Kahok Families,
Warmer temperatures, longer days and grass cutting season have arrived! It’s finally spring, and we can look forward to the return of outdoor activities to help brighten our spirits after a cold winter.
Spring Break and the end of the school year are quickly approaching. The district has approximately seven weeks left in the 21-22 school year. As the year winds down, there is still a lot of work to do as we make the final push towards the middle of May. I want to remind our families that regular attendance, consistent routines, reinforcing behavior expectations and encouraging hard work are essential to our students’ academic and social growth during the fourth quarter. The partnership between home and school is vital.
Please mark your calendars with the following dates as we are about to begin a very busy spring:
April 14th – 18th Spring Break (No School)
May 6th (Rain Date: May 10th) 4th Grade Track Jamboree
May 14th CHS Graduation at 10:00 a.m.
May 19th Last Day of Student Attendance
May 20th Teacher In-Service
*Note: Dates of CHS finals will be distributed by high school administration
This week, I want to highlight the quality connections our district has with local law enforcement agencies. Throughout the school year, police officers drop in for lunch with our students as part of the Cops & Kahoks partnership to build social relationships. Additionally, criminal justice is one of the Collinsville Area Vocational Center’s most popular programs. Many of our students have an interest in law enforcement, so we would like to share information about the 2022 Police Youth Academy for students 13 to 17 years of age. Use THIS LINK to access information regarding this summer’s 2-week session hosted by the Collinsville Police Department.
Please get out and enjoy the longer days and warmer temperatures. Thank you for your constant dedication to our students and don’t forget to wear your purple and show your Kahok Pride!
