Illinois State Board of Education released the 2019 Illinois Report Cards on at www.illinoisreportcard.com. The Report Card shows how well our schools are progressing on a wide range of educational goals. Información de la boleta de calificaciones de Illinois 2019 (español)
Our progress reflects investments we have made in instructional staff, STEM, early intervention programs and Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS).
One component of the School Report Card is the summative designation – a descriptor of how well a school is meeting the needs of all students. This designation is based on academics, student success, school culture and climate, and financial investments.
This year, eight of our schools are designated as Commendable, one is Exemplary, one is Underperforming and one (Jefferson Elementary) does not meet the size requirement to receive a designation. For a detailed description of the four ISBE designation categories, visit: https://www.isbe.net/Documents/ISBE_Designations.pdf.
Here are things to note about our schools’ 2019 Illinois Report Cards:
- We are pleased to announce Renfro Elementary School, which was designated as Underperforming in 2018, has improved to the Commendable category. Their 2018 designation was based on the performance of the Students with Disabilities subgroup. To improve outcomes for these students, Renfro utilized additional resources for targeted instructional assistance, curriculum and social emotional support.
- Collinsville High School, Dorris Intermediate School, Caseyville Elementary, Kreitner Elementary, Maryville Elementary, Summit Elementary and Twin Echo Elementary continue as Commendable schools. This indicates they have no underperforming student demographic groups and a graduation rate that exceeds a minimum of 67 percent.
- For the second year, Webster Elementary received an Exemplary designation which indicates they are performing within the top ten percent of schools statewide and have no underperforming subgroups. As an Exemplary school, Webster effectively meets the needs of all of their students and serves as a role model for schools across the state.
- This year, Collinsville Middle School is designated as Underperforming which indicates they have one or more student demographic groups who are underperforming. ISBE has indicated CMS’ designation is based on Students with Disabilities and Multi-racial subgroups. As a result of this designation, CMS qualifies for additional funding and support to address the needs of those students.
Also, when you view this year’s Illinois Report Cards, for the first time ever, designations and academic indicators appear alongside site-based expenditures – how much money our district spends per student at our schools. With these two data points, we have the opportunity to take a closer look at the relationship between financial investments and student outcomes.
