2009-2010 State Champion Kahok Bowlers
The 2009-2010 State Champion Kahok Girls Bowling Team will be inducted into the inaugural class of the Southern Illinois High School Bowling Conference Hall of Fame on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
The induction banquet is in the Empire Room at Bel-Air Bowl in Belleville, Illinois.

In addition to the championship, the Lady Kahok Bowlers set the record for the highest pinfall in state finals history. This was the first time in state history that all eight girls on the roster bowled during a state championship tournament and won.
The winning 2009-10 season included:
- Southwestern Conference Title (10-1-1)
- Kahok Team Challenge Champions (by over 700 pins)
- Abe Lincoln Invitational Champions (by over 900 pins)
- Elite 6 Invitational Champions (by over 800 pins)
- Panther Team Challenge Champions
- Sectional Champions (by over 600 pins)
- State Champions (by 134 pins).
“This team was special in that every time we entered a tournament, we knew we were going to win. There was never a moment at any point that we had to come from behind in each of the tournaments we won except the second and third games of the state tournament,” recalls Coach Sean Hay.
“
Ultimately what defined this team is how they responded to adversity. They made no excuses and addressed situations directly as they happened. For example, two of the girls were cut from the team their freshman year and still committed to getting better and making the team their sophomore year. Five of these girls didn’t see any significant varsity time the year before because we had an extremely talented team during the 2008-09 season,” according to Hay.
“Even with that fact, they kept working and improving to become great. Their team committed to a work ethic that let all of them trust each other on the lanes. They knew that no matter who was in the lineup, we always had a chance to win any tournament convincingly.”
“These girls were honor roll students; many had GPA’s over 4.00. All but two of them bowled in college – one was on a national championship team at Lindenwood St. Charles.”
