Hello, my name is Tonya West and I am delighted to be your child's 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2020 -2021 school year. This is my 7th year teaching at Cox Mill Elementary. I am originally from Brooklyn, New York! My family and I enjoy going to the beach and watching sports, especially basketball and football.

My teaching experience includes grades kindergarten, second, and third. I was also a Reading Interventionalist for ten years.

My goal is for each student to become a life long learner. This year, students will transition from learning to read, to reading to learn. The key to success is for them to read every day. There will be many opportunites for the children to express themselves through a variety of oral and written activities.

We are partners in your child's educational journey. I am looking forward to an exciting year!
