Mrs. Jenny Sinclair
My name is Jenny Sinclair and I am thrilled to be at Cox Mill Elementary serving students in kindergarten-2nd grade as their school counselor. I am from North Carolina and have lived in NC all of my life. I grew up in Lexington, NC and went to undergraduate school at North Carolina State University. I majored in middle grades education and taught 6th-8th grade for seven years before making the switch to school counseling. In May of 2007 I earned my master’s degree from UNC-Charlotte in school counseling and have been at Cox Mill since 2010. I truly love my job!! My primary role as school counselor is to help students. I do this in a variety of ways including classroom guidance, short term individual counseling, and small groups.

Social Emotional Learning-SEL
What is SEL?
SEL is the acronym for Social Emotional Learning. Typically students are taught a lesson relating to a variety of topics including feelings, empathy, resiliency, self-awareness and many more.
SEL 2020-2021
Cabarrus County School support staff, made up of school counselors, school psychologists and school social workers developed weekly lessons to be delivered either by classroom teachers or support staff to students.

Zones of Regulation
The content of the lessons will be delivered Monday mornings through Morning Meetings by school counselors. Tuesday- Thursday students will interact with their teachers discussing Morning Meeting questions, which relate to Monday’s SEL topic.
