Hello! My name is Ashley Pethel. I have been teaching for Cabarrus County Schools since January 2005. I am married to my amazing husband, Matt Pethel, and have two wonderful children, Brandon and Leah. They are my pride and joy! Education is a lifelong passion of mine, and I hope to inspire you in your educational journey. I am so excited about the new school year at Cabarrus Virtual Academy. I cannot wait to meet you face to face (in this virtual world) and look forward to working alongside you this semester.

 

I will use the online learning management system called Canvas for my courses this year.  Please visit my Canvas page by clicking the Canvas icon on the school's website to access all course information.  You will need an account and access code (available for students and parents).  Please email me ashley.pethel@cabarrus.k12.nc.us for the course access code. 

 

I will be using the Canvas grade book feature. However, PowerSchool should be used to evaluate progress and student growth. Assignments, Skill Development, and Assessments occur in a variety of formats. It is important for students to regularly check announcements, modules, and the message inbox on Canvas.  Student grades can and should be viewed using the PowerSchool parent portal, which is updated regularly. I also encourage parents to register as Canvas observers to assist in monitoring student progress. Please refer to the links left of this page for information on access to these important resources.
