Ms. Adkins is the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Studies and Public Safety teacher in the Public Safety Academy at Concord High School.
Ms. Adkins is a proud Niner Nation alumnus, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and received her Paramedic training at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College where she also began her teaching career as an adjunct instructor in 2003. She is a North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services certified Level II Paramedic Instructor and a North Carolina EMT-Paramedic.
Ms. Adkins first certified as an EMT at the age of 18 and began her 11 year career with Cabarrus County EMS at the age of 19. This early start into public safety makes her a passionate advocate for young career entry and local job placement. She began her career as a part-time EMT and completed her time with Cabarrus County at the rank of Sergeant and the responsibility of Field Training Officer. Ms. Adkins has since worked as a Patient Advocate and then Paramedic in the Emergency Department for Atrium Health. She is currently on staff as an adjunct EMS instructor at Central Piedmont Community College.
Outside of work, Ms. Adkins is mom to 7 year old and 2 year old boys. She loves to be outdoors hiking and camping, DIYing home projects and a good cup of coffee!
