What are we learning?

*Reading- This week students will use clues from the text to make predictions about what will happen next.  We will also use a story's pictures and words to identify a character's feelings and why they feel that way as we continue to look at characteristics of different characters in our story The Recess Queen.

*Letterland- This week we will continue our study of beginning blends in words.  Blends are two letters that each have an individual sound in a word, but the two sounds blend or smush together so that you say the sounds quickly.  This week we will look at r blends.  R blends include words like brick, frog, drip, and grab. Please continue practicing these at home as we will continue to practice in class too!

*Math- This week we will continue our study of teen numbers.  We will continue to make teen numbers in a variety of ways so that the children see a teen number in tens frames, with base 10 blocks, and with tally marks.  We will do a craft to review our teen numbers unit and take our final math assessment this week.

*Science – We will continue to use property words to describe objects.  We will reinforce these properties by doing hands on activities and experiments.
