Meredith Schellhase

Welcome! My name is Ms. Schellhase, and I’m thrilled to be here for my second year of teaching at Cabarrus Tech! Together we’ll be learning about United States’ History. I want to start by saying: I’m glad you’re here, and I’m thankful that I get to work with students and families. Please do not hesitate to contact me about anything you might need as we go into a new year! My email is usually the best way to do this (meredith.schellhase@cabarrus.k12.nc.us), but also feel free to call the school and ask for me. 

We often don’t think about it this way, but one of the things that I love about US history is that we’re a part of it. The people who started this story have now given it to us. I’m thankful to be in this story with you, and I’m excited to meet you. Welcome to US history Class!

Here’s just a little background on me. I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, but had the privilege of living overseas during middle and high school. I love Social Studies, and I have a bachelors in History Social Science, and I have completed the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program at Wheaton College. 

One of the things I learned and hope to pass from my preparation program is that history is not about memorization at all! Therefore, I teach it as a skills-based class where I give you tools to evaluate sources, and then you do the work to evaluate those sources. I’m incredibly excited to work with and learn from you! Let’s make it a good year!
