A section titled, "Student Privacy" has been added to the District's Return-to-Learn Plan. The District provides and supports digital tools for teachers that enable access for remote learners and their parents/guardians during the school day. These videos are then housed in a secure platform designed to safeguard privacy and security. Students and parent/guardians are prohibited from making recordings of classrooms, teachers, and students. The question is not, "What are they trying to hide?" The answer to that question is, "Nothing, our teachers are working hard to provide quality instruction in the most difficult of situations, across all subjects, in a manner that makes learning accessible to all of our students." The question should be, "Who are they trying to protect?" The answer to that question is, "Everyone." Students and staff in our schools and classrooms are entitled to privacy (by law). Anyone who records classrooms outside the school setting is violating privacy as well as student records law." Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation as we move forward in unfamiliar and ever-changing circumstances. We hope to be able to maintain these efforts to support hybrid learning.
