Freedom of Information ActBushnell-Prairie City School District #170 is a small, rural, public school district located in west-central Illinois. The District serves students in prek-12 from McDonough, Warren, and Fulton Counties.
The Freedom of Information Act, enacted in 1984, is based on the principle that the public should be able to access public records and information about the workings of their government. In compliance with Illinois School Code (5 ILCS 140/4), each school district is required to post specific information as specified in FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requirements. The Freedom of Information Act, however, also recognizes that some records and therefore information may need to be kept confidential to protect personal privacy (both of students and personnel). Examples of documents that are not considered open to the public include individual student records, information and/or materials that could compromise safety and security if released, documentation related to ongoing labor negotiations, student discipline records, and other records related to legal issues and/or procedures. To request information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, please contact the District Freedom of Information Officer listed below. All requests for information must be presented in writing. Please see School Board Policy 2:250 Access to District Public Records for more information and to learn more about any fees that may be associated with access to public records.
