A Return-to-Learn draft was shared with the Bushnell-Prairie City Board of Education during their regular meeting on Wednesday, October 21. District leadership team members are working to develop a plan that would have B-PC students back in school for in-person learning, full-time, at the beginning of 2nd semester in January and hope to have a final plan ready to share in November. More information provided as available. The end of 1st quarter is October 22. With students returning to in-person learning the next day on October 23, teachers have asked for additional time to give students adequate time to submit work and to make sure they have all work accurately recorded. As such, grades won't be finalized in Skyward until Thursday, October 29.
Due to the sudden increase in positivity rate for COVID-19 in McDonough County, the Illinois Department of Public Health is increasing access to free testing. See the flyer below to see when you can get free COVID-19 testing at Bushnell-Prairie City High School. As of today, Friday, October 16, McDonough County has been placed on Warning status.
As shared via Skylert issued earlier this evening. Our district is experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19 that has impacted many departments, Food Services in particular, and has resulted in our return to remote learning. Through the generosity and assistance of Abingdon-Avon Superintendent Mike Curry and their Food Services Director and staff we are making arrangements to have food delivery for interested B-PC families on Wednesday, October 14. If interested in receiving a food delivery, please complete this form. So thankful for great neighbors! You rock, A-Town!
Public Service Announcement: Just received our bi-weekly COVID-19 update hosted by the McDonough County Health Department and includes information from McDonough District Hospital, Western Illinois University, and the Emergency Services Disaster Agency for McDonough County. Unfortunately, our region is trending upward again. Of greater concern is that Bushnell, specifically, is reporting an increase in positive cases from last week to this week, in particular among our most senior folks. The positivity rate in a community is the leading metric for school districts. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

A section titled, "Student Privacy" has been added to the District's Return-to-Learn Plan. The District provides and supports digital tools for teachers that enable access for remote learners and their parents/guardians during the school day. These videos are then housed in a secure platform designed to safeguard privacy and security. Students and parent/guardians are prohibited from making recordings of classrooms, teachers, and students. The question is not, "What are they trying to hide?" The answer to that question is, "Nothing, our teachers are working hard to provide quality instruction in the most difficult of situations, across all subjects, in a manner that makes learning accessible to all of our students." The question should be, "Who are they trying to protect?" The answer to that question is, "Everyone." Students and staff in our schools and classrooms are entitled to privacy (by law). Anyone who records classrooms outside the school setting is violating privacy as well as student records law." Thank you for your understanding and your cooperation as we move forward in unfamiliar and ever-changing circumstances. We hope to be able to maintain these efforts to support hybrid learning. To view this addition to the Return-to-Learn Plan, please click on this link and navigate to page 7, "Student Privacy".
