Elden Elementary Principal announces retirement

February 2, 2024

Elden Elementary School Principal Thomas J. Coughlin recently announced his retirement. He will retire at the end of this school year.

We congratulate Principal Coughlin on his upcoming retirement and wish him well. He will be missed! Principal Coughlin has served as Elden's principal since the 2016-1017 school year. He sent the following message out to his families:

Dear Elden families,

I would like to let you know that I have decided to retire at the end of this school year. It is very bittersweet, but I am so excited to enter a new part of my life. My last eight years at Elden have been wonderful. I am so appreciative of all of your support over the years. I am so grateful to everyone including the Elden faculty & staff, our PTA, our District leadership team, our Board of Education and most importantly you and your amazing children.

As I reflect upon my years at Elden, I am so proud of the success your children have achieved. We have collaborated on many great adventures such as the Elden playground build, eight moving up day ceremonies and several committees, including our School Improvement Committee. Recently, we were honored to be identified as a school for “Local Support and Improvement (LSI),” which was formerly known as a school in “Good Standing.” In fact our District and all eight schools are now identified with this status based on test results from the 2022-23 school year. I am so excited to share this news of our success and improvement.

Our District leadership team and I, including Dr. DeBarbieri, will keep you up-to-date with information regarding my replacement in the coming months.

Thank you again for your continued support. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Mr. Coughlin
