Marching Band Director Casey Vanderstouw wins WCNY Classic FM Music Educator Award

WCNY Classic FM honored C.W. Baker High School Music Teacher and Marching Band Director Casey Vanderstouw with the Music Educator Award on Tuesday, January 24th.
The award spotlights local music educators in the community who are dedicated to sustaining the performing arts and have had a strong positive influence on their students. Winners are nominated by members of the community.
“We are so grateful that WCNY recognizes and honors the great work that teachers like Mr. Vanderstouw do with students each and every day,” said Baker Principal Kris Denton. “Mr. Vanderstouw goes above and beyond to provide special opportunities and experiences for our music students at C.W. Baker High and we thank WCNY for recognizing his outstanding efforts!”
The Music Educator Award is announced LIVE on Classic FM. Mr. Vanderstouw was surprised with the honor during class.
Mr. Vanderstouw said it was a huge honor to receive the Music Educator Award!
“This was a huge surprise, and I can’t thank our parents, students, school district and my fellow music teachers enough for their support and the nomination,” Mr. Vanderstouw said. “I’m so proud of the work we’ve done here, and for the future of the arts in Baldwinsville. For me, it’s always been about creating new and exciting opportunities for students. It was humbling to hear that this was one of the primary reasons for receiving this award.”
Mr. Vanderstouw and the Baldwinsville Central School District send a huge thank you to WCNY, Symphoria and the Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music for the recognition, and for what they do to support music education in our greater community!
