District responds to nationwide milk carton shortage

We received a letter from our milk supplier notifying us of a nationwide milk carton shortage that will impact our school meal program in the near future. Our milk suppliers, along with others across the nation, are experiencing a shortage of the half pint cartons typically used for our school meals. The shortage is expected to last for several months.

Our suppliers are seeking alternative solutions to the packaging issue and in the meantime, our food service staff has come up with a contingency plan to ensure that our students continue to receive nutritious school meals. Alternative beverage options will be available for all meals in addition to alternative methods for serving milk or milk products.

We will continue to do everything within our power to mitigate the impact of the nationwide milk carton shortage on our school meal program.
