Denise Falso joins Board of Education

The Board of Education appointed Denise Falso to the vacant board seat at the regular board meeting on Monday, December 5, 2022. Denise previously served on the school board from July 2019 to June 2022. 

Denise and her husband, Anthony, have been proud members of the Baldwinsville community since 2015. They, along with their three children (15, 12, and 9 years old) love to be involved in various activities in the community.

Denise earned a B.S. in Biology from Le Moyne College and a M.S. in Biology/Science Education at Syracuse University. She is a New York State certified teacher in Biology, General Science and Students with Disabilities. She currently teaches Life Science for the Fulton City School District, where she has worked for a total of 15 years. Past teaching experience includes Living Environment, Earth Science, Physical Science, and Environmental Science at OCM BOCES for 2 years. She also taught Biology Lab as an adjunct professor at Le Moyne College. In addition to her teaching experience, Denise earned the Foundations of Financial Services Certification for Insurance Fundamentals: Life, Annuities, and Health. She holds a Property/Casualty and broker’s license.

Denise served on the Baldwinsville Central School District Board of Education as a Board member from 2019 to 2022. She was part of the Health Insurance, Communications, and Policy Committees during that time. Prior to this, Denise was an active volunteer in the PTA and served as the Vice President. She participated in District PTA meetings. Denise was appointed by the Board to serve and she welcomes the opportunity to support the District and community in this capacity until May 2023.

Denise and her family enjoy volunteering and giving back to the community. They have supported various local organizations and charities such as Baldwinsville Little League, CNY Family Sports Center, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Griffin’s Guardians, Golisano Children's Hospital, Evan’s Mission for a Cure, along with Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball Booster Clubs.

Denise understands that the decisions and policies the Board develops and approves are important and affect each student Those decisions and policies should continuously improve their educational experience. Denise will continue to advocate for all children and staff to have what they need to achieve this. She believes that every child is capable of doing their best and reaching their full potential in order to become successful and contributing citizens as they prepare for college, work force, or vocational training. Denise knows how important it is to work together to allow every opportunity available to our children and community, while remaining fiscally responsible to our taxpayers. Her experience and her willingness to devote time to be an engaged Board member will help her make beneficial and informed decisions.

The board seat was vacated by Frank Matus, who resigned in October. The term for this Board of Education position will expire May 16, 2023, the date of the annual school board elections. If the Denise wishes to continue in the position, she will need to run for a three-year term in the annual school board elections on May 16, 2023.
