GET SCHOOL CREDIT!
At FYS, participants are always in a learning environment; whether they are out in the field, participating in an initiative, or enjoying a guest lecture, the participants are actively engaged in the learning process. Some of the educational lessons may include:
- Salmon Decline & Recovery
- Map Reading & Navigation
- Citizenship, Work Ethic, & Goal Setting
- History of the Gifford Pinchot
- Wildland Fires & Management
- Forest Ecology, Renewable & Nonrenewable Resources
- Personal Finances & Career Development
Forest Youth Success, in collaboration with the Stevenson-Carson School District, developed curriculum that allows participants to earn high school credit for their experience at FYS. Crew members are eligible for .50 credit of "Forest Teamwork." Mentors ar eligible for the "Forest Teamwork" credit and a .50 credit of "Forest Leadership." All credits are counted as elective credits.
