Welcome
to the Stevenson-Carson School District
About Us
The Stevenson-Carson School District is a K-12 district
located in the Columbia River Gorge. A National Scenic Area, the Columbia River
Gorge offers breathtaking views of tree covered mountains and streams dropping
to the massive Columbia River below. While located in a rural area, serving the
towns of Stevenson, North Bonneville, Carson, Stabler and Home Valley, the
Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area is just 40 miles west of the District.
District Facilities
The district
serves approximately 900 students, K-12. Students attend Stevenson Elementary (K-2), Carson
Elementary (3-6), Wind River Middle School (7-8),
and Stevenson High School (9-12). Building size and class size are
small, providing an exceptional opportunity for a personalized educational program
for each student. The facilities are kept in excellent condition and reflect
the communities’ commitment to provide quality schools.
District Focus
The district's motto is "Children First." While not a unique
motto, the commitment and sincerity of the staff is genuine. Stevenson-Carson
School District's highest priorities are instructional with a clear focus
to improve student reading performance. The commitment to consistent
curriculum review and use of proven result-driven programs is a cornerstone of
the commitment to place students first. The district has established a
reputation regionally and statewide as "progressive" and "on the
cutting edge."
Student Performance
Student performance has improved over the last decade with outstanding results
achieved in reading. Elementary reading scores at the Carson Elementary
and Stevenson Elementary have been some of the best in the region. The district’s
commitment to evaluate student growth is reflected in the use of MAP (Measures
of Academic Performance) Levels Test. Students are tested grades 2-10 in
the fall and spring of each year. As a result, student achievement can be
documented clearly and programs can be adjusted to achieve excellence for all
students.

The Stevenson-Carson School District provides students a very personalized
educational experience. With small class sizes, specialized staff, and a
clear instructional focus, students realize the maximum opportunity to
