CES Principal Letter Regarding Student Safety
January 9, 2018
Dear Parent/Guardian of Carson Elementary Students:
Last night, it was reported on Facebook that a student was grabbed by a male stranger in the vicinity of Brooks Road at about 7:00 p.m. This morning we contacted the Skamania Sheriff’s office and Chief Bond came to the school, gathered some information and is currently investigating.
Carson staff have been alerted to this incident and we have reminded our students of the importance of following safe routes when in the community. Please take some time to review with your children precautions they should remember to stay safe at all times. Students should:
- Tell an adult immediately if they see someone or something that makes them worry or feel uncomfortable.
- Stay with friends and travel in pairs or groups, if possible.
- Avoid short cuts and stay on the main roads where you are visible.
- Be aware of their surroundings.
Student safety is our first priority. If your child is ever grabbed by a stranger or there is an attempted abduction, PLEASE call 911 immediately. It is important that they get as much information documented as soon as possible and can keep this community safe.
Thank you for taking the time to discuss this with your student. We appreciate your assistance in keeping our students, school, and community safe.
Sincerely,
Brian Howe
Principal
