Mrs. Ripps’ third graders at Veeder Elementary School hosted a student author celebration. Families were invited to come to the Veeder library to see the results of a three-month long animal research project that each child produced. The project involved Science, Social Studies, Reading and Writing. Starting with note-taking from the selected animal books, to putting the report together with non-fiction features, including a Table of Contents, subtopics, headings, diagrams and for some, a glossary, the children were able to talk about their finished pieces with the adults who were in attendance. Many thanks to Veeder librarian Mrs. Scott, Principal Sullivan, Mrs. Wells (ELA/Social Studies Supervisor) and Mr. Bearup (Math/Science Supervisor) for attending the celebration and talking with the children about their projects.
