Mrs. Hynes, a STEM teacher at Lisha Kill Middle School, visited Veeder’s Elementary School Kindergarten classes Friday for a coding activity. Kindergarten students learned what a circuit is and how electrons can flow through a path. Students in Mrs. Ryan’s, Mrs. Delancey-Smith’s, Mrs. Cohen’s and Mrs. Backus’ classes made a human circuit and using a Makey Makey device connected to code written by Mrs. Hynes’ middle school students to play a racing game. After reading the book, “The Mitten”, kindergarten students made their own puppets and were able to animate their characters using code. Learning to code is fun!
