On Saturday, March 26 the South Colonie Central School District held the regional Kidwind Challenge, the industry leading renewable energy design and construction student competition.
Annually, this event encourages renewable energy education in the classroom allowing students to showcase their team created turbines.
“These teams spent time after school throughout the year designing, building, testing, and refining their wind turbines to get to where they are now,” said Jim Brown, 7/8 STEM teacher. “I have enjoyed watching them learn from their failures and celebrate their successes along the way. The skills they have honed and knowledge they have learned will help them in any future career.“
This year Sand Creek Middle School had four participating teams with two teams placing first and second place earning them an invite to compete at the national championship event. The event will be held during the CLEANPOWER trade show in San Antonio, TX this May.
Congratulations to the Sand Creek’s four participating teams!
