Students in Stacey Sebert’s seventh grade science classes at Sand Creek Middle School conducted an energy debate. They worked in small groups, researching the advantages and disadvantages of different renewable and nonrenewable energies. Each group presented their research by discussing the advantages of their groups energy and then asking questions about other groups energies, to learn more about the disadvantages of the different types of energy. In typical debate fashion, many students even dressed up for the occasion, wearing suits and ties. The debate was a good learning experience, tying current events to classroom discussion.
