South Colonie recognizes school lunch heroes

On Friday, May 6, 2022, South Colonie Central School District will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day recognizing our amazing food service professionalsSchool Lunch Hero Day and the difference they make every day!

“It’s important for us to recognize the important work of our essential staff members,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perry. “We have all had to shift gears over the last several years and our food service team is no exception.”

Between preparing healthy meals for students, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, school nutrition professionals are true heroes.

“I want to take a moment to thank my team for the great job they have done,” said Food Service Director Annette Sukup. “Not only have they been providing meals to students but they are continuing to serve more meals than ever before and I am proud of the work they are doing.”

School Lunch Hero Day provides the perfect opportunity for our school community to  recognize the hard working professionals who support our nine cafeterias across the district. A shout out to our amazing team who has served  a total of 118,022 breakfasts and 298,400 lunches since the start of the school year.
