On Friday, Dec. 9 current Assemblymember and Senator-elect Jake Ashby visited the South Colonie Central School District Office.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perry, Board President Brian Casey, and Board Member Mike Keane joined other district leadership for the opportunity to engage in dialogue regarding current legislative priorities for South Colonie. Priorities discussed included state aid and funding, support for school personnel, as well as, mental health services for children in school.

“I am incredibly grateful for Assemblymember Ashby to visit us at South Colonie,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perry. “We have had a great relationship with Senator Breslin who has served our District for many years.  We thank him for all of the support and we are hopeful to see that continue  under Senator-elect Ashby’s leadership.”

Ashby will step into his new role as a Senator in January for the newly redrawn 43d Senate District, which encompasses all of Rensselaer County, northwestern Albany County including Cohoes, Watervliet, and Colonie, and all but the northern edge of Washington County.

South Colonie was previously served by Senator Neil J. Breslin who will continue to serve as Senator in the new Senate District 46
