As we near the holiday season, South Colonie district buildings are coming up with thoughtful ways to assist those in need, while pitching in to assist regional food banks. Saddlewood Elementary is part of that effort. The main purpose of the Saddlewood Elementary campaign was to keep South Colonie students engaged, while showing the power of assisting their community. In total, the group of fourth graders were able to bring a sizable amount of food and health/hygiene items as part of their “Stuff the Bus” campaign to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

“This opportunity allowed our students to participate in a project that was specifically designed to be fun, but also community-based,” said Saddlewood Elementary Principal, Stacey Wranesh. “We understand that the holiday season can be stressful and we wanted to do something to give back to local families. We are fortunate to be able to participate in this effort, we continue to look for ways to come together as a Saddlewood community even during these challenging times.”

This year’s campaign ran from Monday Nov. 16. through Friday, Nov. 20. To learn how you can make an impact in your community, reach out to local community organizations and find a way to provide resources or volunteer this year. It’s an easy process and delivers promise to others during this time of the year.
