Rebranding Update: Progress and Next Steps

This information was emailed to all South Colonie families on Monday, August 28 at 4 p.m.

Dear South Colonie School Community,

I would like to take a moment to provide you with an update on our ongoing rebranding efforts for South Colonie.

As part of our commitment to transparency and community involvement, I am pleased to share that the rebranding committee successfully convened in mid-August to review the feedback gathered thus far. I’m glad to inform you that the committee has made progress and is now in the process of finalizing their recommendations to move forward. These recommendations encompass three potential names.

At this time we are working to develop logos and associated imagery for the potential names. Given the nature of this process and simultaneous time commitment associated with planning for our 75th Anniversary school year, this process may take longer than originally anticipated.   However, once the logo concepts have been created, we will be reaching out to various stakeholder groups to gather feedback.

This feedback-gathering phase is crucial to ensure that the selected logo resonates with our entire community, including students, parents, staff, and alumni. However, the final decisions, including the name and logo, will ultimately be presented to and approved by the board.

Regarding opportunities for community members and students to continue to be involved in the rebranding process, I would like to clarify that your engagement is highly valued. Following the completion of the logo development phase, we will be providing channels for stakeholders, including community members and students, to provide their feedback on the proposed options. This feedback will help us ensure that the chosen name and logo truly represent the collective identity of our school.

I hope this update offers a clear understanding of the next stages in our rebranding process. I want to extend my gratitude for your continued patience, active involvement, and unwavering support. Should you have any further queries or thoughts, please do not hesitate to email communications@scolonie.org

Thank you for being an integral part of our school community.

Proudly Colonie,

David Perry
Superintendent of Schools
