Sand Creek Middle School students and families joined together at the Colonie Central High School Mug on Thursday, June 24 in celebration of their eighth-grade students moving up to the high school.
“For the first time in a long time we are together in-person and unified as Sand Creekers for one last time,” said Principal Marohn as he welcomed students and families both in-person and virtually to the celebration. “Today is the day we get to celebrate all of your accomplishments during your time at Sand Creek.”
Principal Marohn’s remarks talked about the traits the students have developed during their time at the Middle School and focusing on them instead of all that was lost. Collaboration, determination, patience, organization, community, empathy, humility, and the ability to navigate changing technology. “Whether you recognize this or not, the past four years have helped set the foundation for the life you are going to lead.”
Traditional ‘Moving Up’ ceremony elements continued this year including the national anthem, welcome remarks, principals reflection, awards, and of course the presentation of the students.
