Middle School Robotics Teams Compete at RPI, Lisha Kill Advances to Championship Round

The Lisha Kill and Sand Creek SoCoRobo FIRST Lego League teams competed in the Hudson Valley Regional Qualifier FLL tournament Saturday,  Dec. 14 at RPI.

The middle school student robotic teams, lead by South Colonie STEM teachers James Brown and Courtney Hynes, competed in a robotics game and gave presentations on robotics design, project research and core values for this year’s theme of City Shaper.

Lisha Kill placed first in project research and second place overall in the FIRST Lego League Qualifier tournament at RPI. Lisha Kill’s team is invited to the championship held at Dutchess Community College Feb. 8.

Lisha Kill team members are 8th graders Vaugh Pollack, Akshayraj Rathore, Ryan Staley, Ayden Corbett, Liam Wait, and Sean Obermayer;  7th graders Amelia Hinckley, Ella Dannehy and Mari Froehlich and 6th grader Grant Pollack.

Sand Creek student team members are 7th graders Stephen Pham, David Pham, and Shuhuai Shi; and 5th graders Caleb Furman and Marcus Aviza.
