Epilepsy is a chronic noncommunicable disease of the brain that affects people of all ages. It impacts more than 50 million worldwide making it one of the most common neurological conditions around the world.

This week, Lisha Kill Middle School welcomed Rachel Yattaw from the Epilepsy Foundation to share an epilepsy and seizure education presentation.

“As part of developing a deeper understanding of our students who may be impacted by epilepsy or seizures, we wanted to take the opportunity to have the Epilepsy Foundation come in and educate our staff members on how to properly respond,” said Lisha Kill Principal Lindsay Tresansky.  “It is always great when we can learn new things that help us best support our students and keep them safe.”

A parent of a student at Lisha Kill made arrangements for the school to participate in the training.

“We love to see parents who are advocates for their children.  We are thankful for this parent for connecting us with the Epilepsy Foundation and sharing this opportunity with our staff members.” Tresansky added.
