Forest Park Elementary School hosted its 6th annual Festive Friday last week. Students wore their most festive gear and donated a dollar raising $260 as well as bringing in items to support Friends Comforting Friends, a local non-profit charity that helps local cancer patients and their families.
This effort was lead by Forest Park alum Julia Hadden with support from her mom and sister, Rachel, also a Forest Park alum. The Hadden family recently lost their father to cancer and have been working with Friends Comforting Friends to raise money, supplies and increase awareness about the charity and and the work they do. More information can be found by visiting the Friend Comforting Friends Facebook page. Julia and her mom came to Morning Program today to talk a little more about the charity and why it is important to them. Julia also selected the names of two students from all those who donated to win a prize, a L.O.L. Surprise! Pets Series 4 2 pack.
