The students in Mrs. Bell’s and Mrs. McGuiness’ fifth grade classes at Lisha Kill Middle School collected hundreds of character Band Aids to be donated to the Melodies Center at Albany Medical Hospital for children undergoing cancer treatments. These kids get poked and prodded several times a day, and the Band Aids with their favorite characters help to put a smile on their faces. The donations were collected in honor of Emma Pajak and Charlie Fernandez. Emma is pictured above with nurses from the Melodies Center. Emma rang the bell on Monday, Feb. 4, signifying that she was cancer free after a year of treatments. Charlie is still undergoing her treatments in her fight against cancer.
