In a significant stride towards sustainability and promoting green transportation, South Colonie Central School District recently announced the installation of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations at each of its school buildings. Thank
s to the generous grant received from Assemblyman Steck’s office last year, in addition to funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), this initiative will not only benefit the environment but also generate a small revenue stream for the district.
“The installation of EV Charging Stations is a testament to South Colonie’s commitment to embracing innovative technologies and reducing carbon emissions,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. David Perry “By providing convenient and accessible charging infrastructure, the district aims to support the adoption of electric vehicles within the community.”
Apart from supporting sustainable transportation practices, the EV Charging Stations will also generate some revenue for South Colonie. The installation of the EV Charging Stations will take place throughout the summer, ensuring that the charging infrastructure is available to the community in time for the 2023-24 school year.
