CCHS Youth Advisory Board Meets with NYS Representatives

The Colonie High School, Shaker and CBA members of the Town of Colonie Youth Advisory Board recently met with local officials: Assemblyman Phil Steck and Senator Neil Breslin to discuss relevant topics regarding current and local issues.

Colonie High addressed the increasingly more prevalent topic of the widening socioeconomic gap and the injustices caused by systemic flaws. They also looked to the lawmakers to help expand existing free WiFi services in Albany and developing services in Schenectady to accommodate those who could benefit from free wifi in the greater Colonie community. A special thank you to the CCHS participants that researched, prepared and asked intelligent and thoughtful questions.

Senator Breslin ended our conversation with, “These young men and women are by far the best prepared and informed student group I have ever had the opportunity to meet with.”

Among the participants were: Ava Coogan, Morgan Bearup, Sophie Haas, Emily Rennells, Kenny Doan, Bryan Grimes, Kathryn Tenney, Aaron Satin, Tim Rickert, Nick Davis, Kim Murray and Lexi Szesnat.
