On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Line ‘n Cue, the high school drama club, hosted an audition workshop led by Cathryn Wake (Salamone) a Broadway actress and Colonie grad.

Wake is a proud member of the CCHS Class of ‘08 and is currently performing in Dracula A comedy of Terrors at Capital Repertory Theatre in Downtown Albany.

Wake spent the afternoon teaching over 40 budding actors how to do a cold read in preparation for an audition.

“It was wonderful to meet Cathryn in person after our one on one meeting, she is even more bubbly in person!” said CCHS Senior John Malagrida.  “She gave great advice and insight to the actors and actresses on how to overcome the challenges of auditioning. It was very gracious of her to take the time and help the club get a feel for what it’s actually like being a full time actor, Line N’ Cue cant thank her enough!”

In an early interview with the South Colonie Communications team, Wake credited South Colonie with her love of performing, both dramatically and musically, while providing her with an attention to detail in bringing her performances and talent to life.

“I absolutely give one hundred percent credit to the public arts program at South Colonie with my interest in performing,” Wake said. “By being introduced at an early age with music opportunities at Veeder Elementary, I have been able to carry on those positive experiences throughout my performing career.”
