Colonie Central High School graduate and Mansfield University’s Arianna Young has signed a professional contract to play softball with The Field of the American Softball Association (ASBA).
The Field is one of four teams competing in the ASBA, which played its inaugural season in 2018.
“Being given the opportunity to play professionally after your college career is something every player dreams of,” said Young. “ASBA gives college athletes from all divisions the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m excited to face some of the best players from all over the country.”
Young recorded 25 wins in the circle and posted a career 2.95 ERA over four seasons with the Mountaineers. She totaled 141 strikeouts in 339 innings of work. Young posted a career-best 1.72 ERA with 13 wins during the 2017 season and helped guide the Mounties to a PSAC playoff berth in 2019.
“I’m looking forward to all the people I’ll meet and the skills I’ll learn, but I’m more grateful for my friends, family, teammates, and coaches that helped me get here,” continued Young. “I would’ve never thought my career would continue after Mansfield, but thanks to them I get to continue playing the game I love and couldn’t be more excited.”
The Field open the 2019 season against the E1 Pro Ballers at Pat Hicks Softball Field in Satsuma, Ala on Friday, June 14.
