PARENT EDUCATION
School counselors are available to consult with parents about their children's academic, social, and emotional development. When there are issues, concerns and requests for more information that apply to the whole of the school community, school counselors can hold presentations or collect resources to be shared.

Meghan Greenwood
I am a school counselor with a Pupil Personnel Service Credential. I received my Masters of Education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University. I also have Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Communications from Texas A & M University, and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A & M. I started my career in education in 2001 teaching speech, debate, oral interpretation and theatre arts to a wide age range. I bring my dramatic background into my counseling work with many creative expression activities. I work with students individually, in groups, in classroom guidance activities, in student leadership, and in school-wide climate and culture initiatives. Peer Leadership
Each April, student can apply to join the DMS Student Leadership Program. Theses student participate in our Peer Court, help run Restorative Circles, have opportunities to attend leadership workshops, as well as working as Peer Educators for substance abuse prevention and anti-bullying programs.
Other leadership opportunities on campus include WEB Leaders which help with incoming 6th graders, and Student Council who help plan and implement climate and culture activities.
RESTORATIVE PROGRAM
Restorative Circles, Advisories, Suspension Diversion (Peer Court), and Solution Teams are all part of our Restorative Justice Program. Our goal is for every student and school community member to feel safe, honored, valued, and respected at Davidson, and that we all learn to create and maintain positive, caring relationships and repair them when needed.
Wellness and academic check-ins
Students are referred to counseling for a variety of reasons, but usually when a teacher is concerned about academic progress, social dynamics, behavioral concerns, or emotional well-being. Students are also encouraged to self-refer if they need help solving conflict or need some guidance. Some students may opt to check in monthly or quarterly to help with motivation and goal setting. If longer term support is needed, counselors will reach out to the family to make recommendations.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Individual counseling is offered on a limited basis for those students who need targeted help with specific goals that will enhance their school experience. School counseling is not the same as therapy, but like therapy relies on a strong rapport between the counselor and the student. I practice solution-focused brief counseling which helps students identify personal strengths and obstacles to accomplishing short and long term goals. (click her for more information)
GROUP COUNSELING
Group counseling is an effective way for students to heighten skills and be a part of a counseling relationship. Middle school groups include stress management, confidence building, and development of executive functioning strategies. (click here for more information)
CRISIS COUNSELING
Counselors are available to check-in with students in critical situations and connect families to support. This includes grief support, processing traumatic events, and checking in with students who show any of the following warning signs of suicide:
