Literacy entails a three-step process. Being fully literate is the ability to read what is on paper, process what is read, and finally, interpret what is being read. Effective reading, writing, and speaking should co-exist harmoniously to demonstrate absolute literacy.
Our literacy department aims to promote this trio of skills in our students. These skills will continue to evolve throughout their lifetime.
The RPS Literacy Department is enhancing the skills of our students, teachers, and the school community through the implementation of our Literacy Plan Initiative. We are dedicated to promoting growth in three main areas: small-group learning, data-driven instruction, and professional development.
